What Is the Seniors’ Program?
Our seniors’ programs are designed to break isolation, create companionship and mentorship. Our seniors are the embodiment of wisdom and culture. Seniors’ Let’s Talk project is one example. Our mental health programs also have seniors’ component.
Let’s Talk Program
A mental health program designed to break isolation and to ensure seniors are connected with their peers in a safe and trusted space for conversation and sharing. The program also links seniors with youth so they can share life experiences and wisdom. The goal is to end senior isolation which helps them with their mental health.
Objectives
Promote Physical and Mental Well-being: Offer activities and resources that encourage physical exercise, mental stimulation, and overall wellness for seniors.
Lifelong Learning: Provide educational opportunities for seniors to learn new skills, explore their interests, and stay intellectually engaged.
Social Connection: Foster a sense of community and combat social isolation by facilitating social interactions, peer support, and group activities.

Information and Resource Access: Connect seniors with information, resources, and services that cater to their specific needs and interests.
Volunteer and Leadership Opportunities: Encourage seniors to contribute their knowledge, skills, and experiences through volunteerism and leadership roles within the program.
Special Collaboration
African Caribbean Canadian Coalition (ACCC)
ACAO is a member of the African Caribbean Canadian Coalition (ACCC). We worked with the African Caribbean and Black community leaders in organizing a regular Health and Wellness Seminar. Our African Caribbean Canadian Coalition (ACCC) held many Covid 19 related seminars on coping with the pandemic.
Some of these seminar sessions are where our community youths and seniors learned about healthy food and diets, healthy living, kidney disease, financial planning, online security, online dating, and financial fraud. They also learned about mental health and the support available in the community.
